Landscape Design in Southlake, TX

Blooming Colors Nursery & Landscape Design has served Southlake families for over 30 years from our garden center on Ira E. Woods Avenue in Grapevine, roughly 3 miles from Southlake Town Square. Our in-house designers plan each landscape, and our own installation teams build it.

Designing around Southlake's mature trees

Many Southlake lots are shaped by established canopy trees, and the City of Southlake protects them. Its Tree Preservation Ordinance (No. 585-E) requires a Tree Protection Permit for construction sites where trees exist, with a plan showing the house, driveway, pools and decks in relation to existing trees. For custom Desjoyaux concrete pools, pavilions or new hardscape, we plan the layout around those trees from the start, so the design and the permit plan work together.

Planting for Southlake soil and water

Southlake's own landscape guidelines encourage water conservation, low-water native and adapted plants, and plant choices suited to the area's sandy or clay soils. North Texas brings heavy clay, summer heat and sudden cold snaps, so our Texas Master Certified Nursery Professionals and Proven Winners Certified Gardeners choose plants proven to thrive here, then pair them with efficient irrigation and, where water collects, drainage designed with input from our in-house Soil & Water Engineer from Texas A&M.

Outdoor living for entertaining

A Southlake backyard often needs to be a kitchen, a gathering place and a pool deck at once. We design custom Desjoyaux concrete pools with pipeless salt water filtration and a 10-year warranty, pool remodels, outdoor kitchens, cedar, steel or aluminum pergolas, fireplaces, fire pits and landscape lighting as one connected plan, using Certified Belgard hardscape products.
